Please join us at Electropositive for an inspirational conversation and book signing with actor/activist Jesse Eisenberg and author/activist Jim St. Germain.

The two friends will discuss their personal work to affect change in their community as well as share thoughts on fatherhood, mentorship, upward mobility and the American immigrant story in today's political climate.

About Jesse Eisenberg

Actor, playwright and activist, Jesse Eisenberg Eisenberg had his breakthrough with starring roles in the comedy-drama film Adventureland and the horror comedy Zombieland. His portrayal of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in David Fincher's The Social Network(2010) earned him nominations for various awards, including the BAFTA, Golden Globe, and Academy Award for Best Actor.

Eisenberg has contributed pieces to The New Yorker and has written and starred in three plays for the New York stage: Asuncion, The Revisionist, and The Spoils. Eisenberg's first book, Bream Gives Me Hiccups: and Other Stories, a short story collection, was released in September 2015.

In September 2015, Eisenberg matched donations made to Middle Way House, a domestic violence shelter in Bloomington, Indiana, up to $100,000 until April 3, 2016, ultimately raising almost $1 million for the shelter. Eisenberg is involved with Keep America Beautiful, which "[engages] individuals to take greater responsibility for improving their community environments," as well as Shoe Revolt, a "hybrid start-up company that auctions celeb shoes to raise funds to deploy a social franchising model which aims to educate, engage, and empower youth to take the lead in the fight against domestic sex trafficking through peer-to-peer involvement, training, activism and social enterprise development."

About Jim St.Germain

Author and activist Jim St. Germain is the co-founder of PLOT, Preparing Leaders of Tomorrow, a mentoring non-profit for at-risk youth between the ages of nine and twenty-one living in Brooklyn, New York. Many of the mentees were involved, or are at-risk of becoming involved, in the juvenile or criminal justice system. His heralded memoir “A Stone of Hope” tells the story of a young African-American man struggling to overcome a life of crime redirected.

Jim is on the Board of the National Juvenile Defender Center and was appointed by former President Barack Obama to the Coordinator Council on Juvenile and Justice Delinquency Prevention (CCJJ).

Previously, Jim was a youth care worker at a juvenile facility, where he was once a resident. He has overcome many obstacles in his life and his passion for public service comes from his life experiences and his sense of personal responsibility to his community.

Additionally, Jim was a youth advocate for young people living with mental illness at the Mental Health Association, Inc. and a member of New York State’s Division of Criminal Justice Services Youth Advisory Council.

St.Germain speaks three languages: English, French and his native Creole. Most importantly, Jim is a dedicated father to his young son, Caleb.
